It's been about a month since I last wrote here because honestly, I've been busy. Family time, combined with "con crunching" stuff for the talk in Anderson a week from Saturday, and I just haven't had time to work on personal items, or even writing. Still, I wanted to give an update for those of you who like to check in here every so often.
First up, I did throw up a photo album for this week, though I don't have too much to show. I've been REALLY bad taking "in progress" photos of the stuff I'm trying to get done by the end of the weekend, so there hasn't been anything in the way of "WIPWednesday" stuff. You can find that album here.
On the printing front, I'm back to printing some kits. With the release of Fallout on Amazon, some of the 3D model makers I follow have been doing some pieces from the game and the show. Mystery Maker Studio has made two versions of the 10mm Pistol, the Ripper chainsaw blade, and is currently working on a Pip Boy. BigFredsCustoms has also done some Nuka Cola caps, and the syringe gun Lucy carries when she leaves the vault at the beginning of the series. So, I've added to my "must build" queue the two 10mm pistols, and I'm pondering putting one or two up on Troxell's Trading Post, as well. I've also printed my third, and hopefully final, version of the E22 blaster rifle carried by the Shoretroopers in Rogue One A Star Wars Story. This one is supposed to be sturdier than the earlier ones, plus it has areas to run wiring for lights, and had options to use a 1/2" PVC pipe as the main support, which the other versions I had didn't offer. These are going into the queue that I'm going to start figuring out after I've completed the talk, and a commission that a friend has patiently been waiting for me to complete for a bit.
On the Anderson Talk front, a Facebook Event has been created for their May the 4th event, which includes Free Comic Book Day fun, mini golf, and more. I'm trying to get two, maybe even three more props wrapped up by Sunday evening, along with a mold and resin casting, and next week will be spent gathering all of my visual aids and finishing the writing of my presentation based on what I have completed. Then Saturday I escape my neighborhood in the middle of a community yard sale, and head to Anderson. To give you all a rough idea, I'm planning on talking about my history in making props, both as a hobby and professionally. I'm going to discuss the different ways to get props together for your costumes, from 3D printing to resin casting to using household items to using actual toys. Finally, I'm going to encourage everyone to keep learning. Frak, I'm almost 47 and I'm still learning new things and new ways to make things. So honestly, if you're anywhere around Anderson that day, drop by because I'd love to talk props with you. If you can't make it, then I fully intend to do a video of the presentation like I did of my 3D Printing for Cosplay and Introduction to 3D Printing presentations I did back in 2022.
Needless to say, this will be the last post I write until at least the 8th, when I'll post my report on the talk, what I got finished, pictures of my examples, and talk about what I'm working on next. In the meantime, I'll still be posting to Instagram, and working on some new items for Troxell's Trading Post using our new Bambu A1 Mini with AMS Lite, which is going to be used for multi-color prints and small detail items. In the meantime, remember you can keep track of what I'm posting up on places other than here over at TonyTroxell.info, where you can also sign up for my newsletter, which will go live towards the end of May.
On that note, I've rambled on enough for something that was supposed to be a really quick update. Once again, feel free to take a look at the few photos of stuff I've been printing and working on over on Google Photos if you feel like it. In the meantime, please remember that the world REALLY sucks out there. Try not to make it suck even more, in fact, if you can? Try to make it suck a little less.
Be excellent to yourselves, and each other.
Tony
